Stripping the meaning of “publication” to its etymological roots of “issuing forth” or “the act of making public”, 3-ply has framed the Biennial bookstore as a site for performative publication and discursive agency. Conversational exchange amongst mobilized visitors and observers (framed as simultaneously readers and authors) mutates into a series of performances and texts that accumulate to offer alternatives to the conventional Biennial publications, in the form of a speculative guidebook and parallel catalogue. The Biennial bookstore is presented by 3-ply with Yekatarinburg bookshop Йозеф Кнехт.
In exhibition settings, 3-ply operates as a shifting collaborative. For the 3rd Ural Industrial Biennial, 3-ply included contributions from Lisa Radford, Liang Luscombe and Fayen d’Evie.
Foot-notes is an experiment in cumulative, performative publication, with solo and collaborative contributions from Lisa Radford, Liang Luscombe and Fayen d’Evie, together with: Grigory Prokhur, Evgeniy Beloborodko, Sergey Rozhin/100RC, Masha Kontorovich, Anastasia Kochi, Elizaveta Esveyn, Maria Neykovskaya, Maria Stremyakova, Victoria Gontarenko, Alexey Filatov, Oleg Kolpashchikov, Kseniya Vasilieva, Elena Tishler, Elena Treugolka, Alexander Efimov/Nienvox, Dmitry Svetliy, Anastasia Nefedova, Anastasia Krohaleva, Maria Sklyarova, Dan Miller, Nicholas Selenitsch, Connal Parsley, Sophie Cassar, Elisha Zhang, Brigid Fitzgerald, and others.
